[New South Wales] Blue Mountains

Sometimes the big smoke is a bit too much. If you are in Sydney, one of the closest and most rewarding city breaks is just a couple of hours away by train. It’s a nice day trip; start early in the morning, get some brunch/coffee in Katoomba and head to the Blue Mountains. You can even do some treks if you feel like it.

Well I did none of these things haha… I had a rental car and was on my way back from Bathurst. It was an uneventful drive back to Sydney, my friend and I decided to break the journey here to have some food and do something touristy (well there was another emergency stop when I was busting for a toilet stop, but we won’t go there…).

Being a major tourist destination in NSW, the Blue Mountains is extremely easy to get to. Everyone’s postcard spot is the Three Sisters which is easily viewable at a viewing platform. This is usually what comes to mind when someone mentions Blue Mountains.

There are actually lots of tracks that you can spend time on if you feel like doing a bit of exploring. Katoomba would be a good place to base yourself at.
