[Queenstown] Watching the Sun Go Down at Bob’s Peak

Queenstown is basically the number 1 tourist destination in New Zealand, and it definitely earns that reputation. Majestic mountains, pristine (and ice cold!) lake, alpine resort vibe in town. Queenstown just encapsulates the beauty of South Island with the modern conveniences for all your travel needs.

Due to its popularity, Queenstown can get a bit crowded and it feels like most of the population are tourists. So a bit of patience is sometimes required, for example when waiting for your Fergburger (a must eat!).

My favourite spot is up the top of Bob’s Peak. You can either walk up (a good exercise), or simply sit back in one of the gondolas and enjoy the view as it slowly ascends up the mountain.

Here is the view of the surrounding nature from the top of the mountain.

If you’re feeling more physical, do a luge ride downhill. It’s basically a plastic hybrid of sled and go kart, definitely a fun way to feel the wind on your face!

What a view while going down on a luge!

And that classic Queenstown view you see on the postcards…
