That famous 7-star hotel that looks like a sail and features on Owl City’s debut album. Apart from divulging to you my music tastes in 2009, these were my most immediate thoughts associated with the Burj Al-Arab hotel.
I must admit that we didn’t get closer than this to the magnificent hotel. I’ve been told that it is grand on the inside and various options abound for brunch and bar options. If you feel like pampering yourself, this is definitely one of the best places to do so.
But the sun was pleasant without being overbearingly hot, so we headed to the Jumeirah Free Beach next to the hotel instead. Given that the city is built primarily along the coastline, a lot of the beach is restricted access for exclusive resorts and restaurants so this beach is awesome when you’re feeling a bit cheap!
Folks having fun at the Jumeirah Free Beach
Instead of the freezing water I get on a New Zealand beach, this one is awesomely warm! The daughter and I had a blast playing with the waves while the Mrs chilled out on one of those Smart Palms that are available there. Free wifi and charging station baby for those #beach selfies!
