Another highlight of Doha is definitely the charming Souq Waqif. This souq is so happening during the night, it was the spot to be for New Year’s Eve (although we skipped that and splashed about in the hotel pool with the daughter which was even cooler!).
Souq Waqif underwent restoration following a fire in 2003 and the investment has paid off in loads of tourist riyals. There are so many nooks and crannies in the souq. You can find different foods to eat, try some sheesha, peruse various stalls selling souvenirs (at various price points), get some artwork, attend cultural performances or simply just soak in the atmosphere. I loved the traditional architecture you can find here, with the Spiral Minaret ever present as an awesome backdrop.
